Music

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted a new entry for a couple weeks. I do love the responses I have gotten so far, so I'd really like to keep this up!

There are two ways I was thinking about to introduce the music question. Since there are no rules on my version of Desert Island, I will offer those two choices here, and you can write about one or both (or make up your own. What do I care?).

Here you go:
You are able to take an iPod to Desert Island (which is totally solar-powered during the day and the energy lasts throughout the night). What would you bring?
Option 1: There is room for five albums. What five albums (with artists' names) would you include?
Option 2: There is room for only five songs. What five songs would you include?

And can you stand to only listen to the same five choices over and over again?

I received an iPod for Christmas and haven't started putting songs on it yet. If no one has thought of this service as a business opportunity yet, they should. I really want to do it but know it's going to take some work. Plus, I like to plan things out like that... write down all the songs I want on it, and the order I want them.

I will post my five choices soon. I can't wait to hear yours!

Books?...Quotes?...Music?...If your next categories include pizzas, beers and bikini models, I'll swear that you're peering into the file drawer of my brain that has all my favorite things in it. At this rate, I might just buy a one-way ticket to this island and desert myself there on purpose, to enjoy all the good stuff and leave all the bad stuff behind!

I love this blog, Nicole. :O)

Now...on to the music at hand. I made lists for both options, which means there's a bit of overlapping when it comes to artists. Very, very tough to narrow both searches down to five, though. I'm sure as soon as I post this, I'll want to go back and bring another five, and then another...and another.

Albums:
Hard Candy, Counting Crows
Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big & Buzzy, The Refreshments
American Idiot, Green Day
Live At The Point, Matt Nathanson
Shaking The Tree: Sixteen Golden Greats, Peter Gabriel

Songs:
Up All Night, Counting Crows
Mekong, The Refreshments
Bent, Matt Nathanson
Let Your Troubles Roll By, Carbon Leaf
Mrs. Potter's Lullaby, Counting Crows

(yes, I'm a Crows freak.)

I changed my mind. Or, at least, here are the 5 CDs I'd bring if I couldn't find those other 5 in time to catch the boat:

1. Louis Armstrong, Hot Five's vol. 3 and 4.

2. Keith Jarrett, Facing You

3. Chick Corea, Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy

4. Beethoven, Violin Sonatas (I actually don't have any of these on CD, but I've always enjoyed studying them!!)

5. James Brown, Hell

Plus I'd probably sneak some late-60's Miles Davis under my shirt, and hope Nicole didn't notice.
